A goal from the Valencian forward in the last minute gives Villarreal Women their second win in a row
Villarreal Women aren’t taking their foot off the gas. Sara Monforte’s side got another important win against Rayo Vallecano at the Miralcamp Training Ground (1-0). In the closing stages, thanks to a goal from the ever-important Sheila Guijarro, the Yellows get their second win in a row and get three vital points to stay out of the relegation zone.
Rayo Women started the game with more bite, troubling Elena de Toro in the home goal on a number of occasions. Despite the good start from the visitors, as the game went on, Villarreal Women started to dominate, controlling possession, but they were unable to create any big chances against an airtight defence.
In the second half, the Submarine, through persistence and crosses into the box, had a few goalscoring chances, but were unable to score. With the clock nearly reaching 90 minutes, Sheila scored the matchwinner. The forward was the quickest to react after the goalkeeper parried a Vera Rico effort to give Sara Monforte’s side the three points.
After the full-time whistle, the Yellows celebrated the win in style, taking away three important points against direct opposition in the fight to stay up. Endavant!
