The Villarreal head coach has highlighted his team’s clinical nature against RC Celta
Villarreal head coach, Quique Setién, appeared before the media to analyse his team’s important victory over RC Celta (3-1): “We knew it was going to be complicated because Celta are a great team. They do things well and make you very committed, but we managed to come away with the win”.
He underlined the success in a game with less dominance than the previous ones: “We started very well. We scored two goals and we could even have made it 3-0, but we didn’t get the penalty right. Then came their goal and they looked dangerous for a long time. We held our own when we were struggling and scored the third. We didn’t have the dominance we had at other times, but we were effective in both areas. Sometimes it happens the other way around and we regret it.”
When asked about the team’s objectives, Setién was calm and preferred to focus on enjoying the victory and thinking about the next game: “I prefer to think about Valencia. My objective is to reach the end of LaLiga with pace and with options of getting into Europe. Things can change from one week to the next. We know that. The important thing is that there is less time left and we are in a good position. We’re confident because of the result and let’s see if we can recover well and face Wednesday’s game with confidence.”
Finally, the head coach praised the great performance of Nico Jackson, who helped Villarreal by scoring twice: “He’s a great player. He’s been injured for a while and has gradually come into the team. He has improved a lot. We knew about his potential and he is showing it. He’s a player who attacks the back and gives us a lot in attack.”
