The full-back discusses the early days of the training camp and the Champions League season ahead
Sergi Cardona Bermúdez (Lloret de Mar, 08/07/99) is heading into his second season as a Groguet. In his debut campaign, having joined on a free transfer from UD Las Palmas, he impressed from the outset, establishing himself as a key figure in Marcelino’s Champions League-bound Villarreal side and one of the revelations of the LALIGA season. He ended the year as the full-back with the most assists in the competition (7).
Now firmly settled as an important member of the squad despite his short time at the club, Cardona is set to fulfil one of his biggest dreams as a footballer: playing in the UEFA Champions League. He’ll do so alongside players like Alberto Moleiro, a close friend and recent addition to the Submarine, in whom Cardona sees a bright future at Villarreal.
