Salem Al Dawsari and Jaber Essa were presented as new Villarreal CF players at midday today in the press room at the Estadio de la Cerámica. The club CEO, Fernando Roig Negueroles, accompanied the Saudi Arabian players during the presentation event, giving them an official welcome to Villarreal.
After a photo session out on the pitch at the Estadio de la Cerámica, the new Yellow Submarine players spoke before the media. Salem Al Dawsari, who will wear the number 12 shirt for the Yellows, affirmed that coming to Spain is “a dream come true”. “I’ve dreamed about playing in Spain for a club as big as Villarreal. It’s a significant opportunity in my career. I feel relaxed and at home here. The coaching staff and my new teammates have made me feel part of the team from day one”, he commented.
Regarding his qualities as a footballer, Salem defines himself as a “versatile, team player”. “I can play with both feet. I’m a versatile player. I like to combine with my teammates and get on the ball. I’m at the Manager’s disposition to play wherever he wants me”, the Saudi Arabian international said.
Likewise, Salem thanked his fans following him from Saudi Arabia and the Middle East for their support: “I’ve received many messages of congratulations from my country and all of the Middle East. They are very happy there that I am here in Spain. This is a country that has the highest level of football and the best facilities and coaches in the whole world”. In addition, he recognised that in Saudi Arabia, Villarreal is one of the most popular teams in LaLiga for their “great history” and “eye-catching football”.
Lastly, the footballer who came from Al Hilal said his aim is to “triumph as a footballer in Spain”, and at the same time he was very grateful for the warm welcome he has received upon his arrival in Vila-real: “I thank the club, the city and the people for the kindness and support they have shown me since my arrival”.
