Villarreal Women rescued a draw against FC Barcelona B thanks to goals from Nerea Vicente and Aixa Salvador
Villarreal Women showed resilience at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The team coached by Jordi Ferriols, although they went 2-0 down, was able to withstand the continuous attacks of FC Barcelona B and fought heart and soul until the final whistle, managing to leave the Catalan capital with a 2-2 draw and a very important point. The Yellows’ goals were scored by Nerea Vicente and Aixa Salvador.
Villarreal Women proved to be an example of resilience at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper. Jordi Ferriols’ side, who started 2-0 down, were able to withstand FC Barcelona B’s constant onslaught and fought tooth and nail until the final whistle, managing to leave Barcelona with a 2-2 draw and a very important point. The goals came from Nerea Vicente and Aixa Salvador.
In the first half, Villarreal Women, coached by Jordi Ferriols for the first time, were very intense and forceful in all areas of the game. They had a couple of chances on goal, although luck was not on their side. They were very good in defence and, together with goalkeeper Montse Quesada, prevented FC Barcelona B from taking the lead despite their constant attempts to get close to goal.
The coin seemed to have turned out the wrong way for the Yellows after the break. Llorella gave the first warning in the 51st minute and it was in the 60th minute when Fenger made it 1-0 for the Catalans after a cross from Aïcha. As if that wasn’t enough, the situation became even more complicated for the Yellow Submarine when Rosalia made it 2-0 (min 77).
However, Villarreal never gave up and they showed it, and so they were rewarded. First Nerea Vicente, from a corner kick, pulled one back (2-1, min. 80). And then it was Aixa Salvador who made it 2-2 (90th minute) from the penalty spot.
Villarreal Women’s next match will take place on Saturday 15th February, at 4pm CET, against Sporting Club de Huelva at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
