Villarreal CF will visit Estadio de Vallecas with the aim of getting a win against a rival in the European spots (Saturday, 4:15pm CET)
Villarreal CF are looking to get back to winning ways when they travel to Madrid to face Rayo Vallecano. After failing to win the match against Valencia CF at the Estadio de la Cerámica last weekend (1-1), the Submarine arrive in Vallecas with the aim of getting back to winning ways at Rayo’s home ground. The match, corresponding to Matchday 25 of the 2024/25 LALIGA EA Sports season, will be played on Saturday at 4:15pm CET at Estadio de Vallecas.
Marcelino’s side have now gone five games unbeaten, taking 11 of the last 15 possible points. In addition, the Submarine, can boast of being one of the highest scoring teams in LALIGA EA Sports and in these last five games, they have managed to find the back of the net up to thirteen times. The recent results place the Submarine in the fight for direct access to the Champions League, and they are in fifth place in the standings.
Íñigo Pérez’s men, also in the European places, welcome Villarreal CF after the defeat suffered in the previous matchday against FC Barcelona at Montjuic (1-0). Rayo Vallecano have been victorious in their last four home games and have not lost at the Estadio de Vallecas since 1st December against Athletic Club (0-1), a match corresponding to Matchday 15 of this season.
In the last ten meetings between the two sides, Villarreal CF have won five games, while Rayo have taken all three points on three occasions, with the remaining two games ending in draws.
The first meeting of the season, a match postponed due to the flooding in Valencia, was played on 18th December at the Estadio de la Cerámica (1-1). The Submarine, losing from the 20th minute and with one player down due to the sending off of Kambwala in the 32nd minute, managed to equalise in the first half in stoppage time through a great Ayoze goal. The positive note of the game was the return of Juan Foyth. The Argentinian came on in the 74th minute, leaving behind an injury that had sidelined him for 370 days.
