Villarreal internationals face their second matches of this international break
Villarreal CF internationals have been in the spotlight with their national teams. Thomas Partey scored in Ghana’s first match against the Central African Republic, while Pau Navarro concluded his U20 World Cup campaign after Spain U20s were eliminated by Colombia in the quarter-finals (2-3).
Portugal beat Ireland 1-0 in Lisbon, with Renato Veiga featuring in the second half, while Georgia fell to Spain (2-0) in Elche. Georges Mikautadze started and played 69 minutes at the Estadio Martínez Valero.
Meanwhile, Israel suffered a 5-0 defeat to Norway in Oslo, with Manor Solomon playing the full 90 minutes.
Among the African internationals, Pape Gueye was suspended and did not take part in Senegal’s 5-0 win over South Sudan. Nicolas Pepe, although called up, also did not feature in Ivory Coast’s 7-0 victory over Seychelles.
Thomas Partey is the only international to have already played both matches scheduled for this break. He started and scored the second goal in Ghana’s 5-0 win over the Central African Republic and played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 victory against Comoros.
Ilias Akhomach came off the bench to play the final 11 minutes of Morocco’s 1-0 win over Bahrain, replacing Real Madrid’s Brahim Díaz.
Uruguay and Canada also played friendlies. Uruguay won against the Dominican Republic (1-0), with Santiago Mouriño completing the match. For Canada, Buchanan started while Oluwaseyi came off the bench in a 1-0 defeat to Australia.
Pau Navarro did not feature as Spain U20s were eliminated from the U20 World Cup in Chile, falling 2-3 to Colombia.
