The Spanish Association of International Footballers has held an event in Valencia attended by Bruno Soriano and two members of the current first-team squad
‘Leyendas España’ (Spanish Legends), a group organised by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (Real Federación Española de Fútbol – RFEF), part of the Spanish Association of International Footballers (Asociación Española de Futbolistas Internacionales – AEdFI), met this Thursday in Valencia, paying tribute to various players from the Region of Valencia, or who currently live there, who have represented Spain at international level. Current players and former players attended. From Villarreal, Paco Alcácer and Dani Parejo attended the event, as did Yellows legend Bruno Soriano.
There were anecdotes, hugs, recognition, and thousands of memories to give you goosebumps, in an emotive ceremony hosted by Fernando Giner, accompanied by Salvador Gomar, RFEF vice-president and president of the Valencian Football Federation (Federación de Fútbol de la Comunidad Valenciana – FFCV).
After a chat hosted by Pablo García Cuervo, with participation of journalists Alfonso Gil, Paco Lloret and Fermín Rodríguez, remembering various eras of Spanish international football, Leyendas España president Fernando Giner explained the new project paying special attention to all players who have represented La Roja.
Events like the one in Valencia will take place in the coming months around Spain, with representation from the whole country, with 832 players having featured for Spain, with Yeremy Pino being the latest to make his debut. The association works alongside the RFEF, with vice-president Salvador Gomar representing them in this event.
The FFCV president said: “For the Region of Valencia, having so many international players from here is someything that makes us proud. There are players who get forgotten, but we need to all remember then. I feel emotional to be here and remember moments such as the 1982 World Cup. Seeing everyone here makes me proud, you all give the Region of Valencia real prestige.”
