Villarreal Academy expands to West Texas for a camp in collaboration with The Spot WTX
Villarreal CF coaches will be heading to Midland, Texas to hold the club’s first-ever camp in West Texas, USA, from June 1st to 5th 2026. This camp is organized in collaboration with The Spot WTX and will be open to boys and girls from eight to 18 years of age. This five-day event is a unique opportunity to train under Villareal’s renowned methodology, and two lucky players will be selected to participate in an official Villarreal CF tournament in Spain.
Andy Martinez, owner of The Spot WTX, one of the fastest-growing youth soccer leagues in West Texas, is excited for this new venture alongside Villarreal CF: “We began The Spot WTX league back in 2021 with only 9 teams and we now have over 200 teams competing in 2026. Our mission is to develop local talent and bring high-level opportunities closer to players in West Texas, and what better way to do that than this summer’s camp with Villarreal CF.”
Mr. Martinez continued, “We want to bring this first Villarreal CF camp to Midland because we believe that players in West Texas deserve access to international-level methodologies and experiences without having to travel far. Our region has a lot of talent, and this camp will help bring the training of a top European club closer to our community. This is the first time a European club holds a camp in West Texas, making this experience a unique opportunity for young soccer players in our region.”

Texas is a huge state and we already have partner academies in North Texas, in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and in East Texas, all over the city of Houston. Therefore, it is really special for us to now be able to expand into West Texas, specifically in the town of Midland through our collaboration with The Spot WTX. Our goal with our camps is to expose international players to our methodology to help boost their player development, so our mission and values align perfectly. We will also be selecting two players to participate in one of for our tournaments at Villarreal CF, providing an unprecedented opportunity for them to compete against the best players in Spain and worldwide.”
