Villarreal B unable to come back after conceding an early goal from Nico Escudero
Villarreal B left the Nova Creu Alta empty-handed after falling 1-0 to CE Sabadell, with the only goal of the game coming early from Nico Escudero. The Mini Submarine tried everything to find a way back but were undone by a lack of finishing.
The match began at a high tempo. With just five minutes played, Nico Escudero put Sabadell ahead, finishing off a low cross from David Astals (1-0). Villarreal B took some time to settle but grew into the game as the minutes passed. The first clear chance for the Yellows came in the tenth minute with a cross-shot from Facu Viveros. Soon after, Álex Rubio rattled the crossbar with a powerful strike after a corner from Víctor Moreno. Before the break, Moreno himself came close again with a shot that went just wide.
After the restart, Villarreal B were on top for long spells, creating several chances but again struggling to convert. Álex Rubio threatened in the 55th minute and Víctor Moreno in the 61st. The Yellows continued to push with efforts from Quintero and more attacking moves, but the home defence and goalkeeper held firm.
The closing stages were frantic, with numerous stoppages and two incidents reviewed by Video Support. In the 64th minute, a possible penalty on Viveros was checked, and deep into stoppage time, another potential Sabadell handball in the area was also reviewed, but in both cases the referee waved play on. The match ended 1-0 in favour of the home side.
