The Villarreal B head coach underlines the importance of getting points at the Mini Estadi
Villarreal B head coach, Miguel Álvarez, appeared before the media this Friday to analyse the match against Algeciras CF, corresponding to Matchday 31 of the 2024/25 Primera RFEF season, which will be played this Sunday, at 3.30pm CEST, at the Mini Estadi at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
The team’s emotions
“The team is fine. Undoubtedly, on the first day of the week we were hurting, because I think the team did a lot to be able to win against Fuenlabrada. But we’re fine, now we have another home game, and we’re excited to get this game off to a good start, because it’s, as they all are, another direct rival. Besides, points at home are very important.”
The rival: Algeciras CF
“They are a team that is very similar to Mérida. They have very quick players up front, who play very well one on one, who attack the spaces very well. One of their strengths is in their wing play when they get the team deep in the low block, and another of their biggest strengths is that their centre-backs have numbers. And when a team’s centre-backs have goals, that translates into points. In fact, 50% of their goals come from set pieces. They are very effective. Also, I like a lot of associative football. We’re going to have our work cut out, but we’ll get through it. We are also strong at set pieces, we also have players who play associative football and we have enough defensive hierarchy to stop this team.”
Absence of Etta Eyong
“I would like to have him, because he brings a lot to the team, but as that is no longer up to me, Etta Eyong is not important this week. We will win just like we did when we went to Fuenlabrada or Marbella. Now I’m not thinking about him, but about the people who can play there to replace him.”
