The B team head coach underlines how his team have grown before visiting Real Madrid Castilla, who are on a good run and scoring easily
Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez spoke to the media on Friday to discuss the upcoming match against Real Madrid Castilla at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano at the Florentino Pérez Real Madrid City this Sunday at 3:30pm.
He started the press conference by lamenting the point that slipped away last weekend in the last minute of the 1-1 draw against Antequera CF: “It’s something that happens to all B teams. We’re lacking in efficiency in some games, but getting a point gives us peace of mind to continue on the right track.”
Miguel Álvarez also praised the virtues of Real Madrid Castilla: “They’re a team that have gone from strength to strength. They have recovered some important players who were injured. Since the Christmas break, they are the fittest team in the league. They are strong at home and haven’t dropped many points. They are also the top scorers in the league.”
Despite the virtues of the team coached by Raúl González, the Mini Submarine coach is confident in his side’s ability: “I think they’re very good. I think we’ve grown along the way. They have adapted well to the league. In general, we’re in a good moment. We are capable of competing against any opponent. Against Fuenlabrada we did it despite having a lot of absentees and last week we played the leaders to a minimum. We are a well-structured and competitive team. Now, with the arrival of Slavy and Víctor, we are going to be a better team.”
Finally, the Villarreal B head coach has spoken about the arrival of the new players in the winter transfer window: “We needed reinforcements. There are players who are always playing with the first team. Now we have more alternatives up front. Slavy gives us that. He knows what it’s like to score goals in this division, but he has to adapt to the team. Víctor has also been playing more and has had a great first half of the season.”
