The Villarreal B head coach expects a great show without too much between the two teams in the clash of the B teams against Atlético de Madrid (Sunday, 7:30pm CET)
Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared before the media this Friday to analyse the preview of the upcoming match, which will be played against Atlético de Madrid B this Sunday, starting at 7:30pm, at the Mini Estadi of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
The B team are coming into the game on a high after three consecutive victories, which have lifted them straight from the bottom of the table and put them firmly in the fight for the play-off places. “When you win everything changes. It brings a lot more joy to the group and reinforces the work we’ve been doing. If you win, the players believe more in the message you’re sending them”, he explained.
The Mini Submarine took advantage of the first team’s break in the league to have all their players available. Something that, in all likelihood, will not happen this matchday: ‘We are waiting for their squad list because they have been working this week with several of our players due to the absences they have. We adapt to what they do. We are very happy when they go with the first team. It’s our main objective and with the players we have we will face the game against Atleti,” said the experienced coach.
As for the clash, Miguel Álvarez predicted that the two sides in the top half of the table will be evenly matched: “We are expecting a very evenly matched game. In this case, it will be a match between two B teams. They have a team with a strong backbone. Away they have won three and drawn three. They have some brutal numbers away from home. It’s very remarkable that nobody has been able to beat them when they play away.”
In the same vein, the Andalusian coach has promised that it will be a great show: “I imagine a game in which we will see a lot of quality on the pitch. Although they are in the process of building themselves up to be elite players, it will be an attractive clash.”
