The Villarreal B head coach has analysed their upcoming match against Sevilla Atlético (Saturday, 7pm CEST)
Villarreal B head coach, Miguel Álvarez, spoke to the media ahead of the Mini Submarine’s upcoming fixture against Sevilla Atlético, corresponding to Matchday 38 of the Primera Federación season. The match will take place this Saturday at 7pm CEST at the Mini Estadi, at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
Here are some of the standout comments from the Villarreal B boss:
A strong week of training
“The team has been working really well and we’re looking forward to the match with great excitement.”
The opposition: Sevilla Atlético
“They’re a reserve side just like us. They’ve shown a lot of growth as a team, they’ve done things very well, and they’ve got some excellent players. Many of them have won titles at youth level, which gives them that extra edge. That said, regardless of who we’re up against, we need to put in our best performance — just like we’ve done in recent home matches. The players are aware of that and we’ve prepared well, thinking not only about the opposition, but also about our own game.”
An important match
“I’m expecting a game similar to our recent ones at home — playing freely, as a group, and believing in what we do. It’s a very important match and the players are fully aware of it. If they perform with the same personality as they did in our last home outing, I believe it’ll be a very enjoyable game for us.”
The final stretch of the season
“This is the time to put in the work, with no excuses, so that all the effort and dedication we’ve invested throughout the season gets the reward it deserves. We need to finish well.”
Praise for Etta Eyong
“He deserves all the good things that come his way — not only as a person, but also because he’s been outstanding professionally. We’re very pleased with him from a coaching perspective. The same goes for Pau Navarro, who’s done very well in the matches he’s started recently. And we’re also proud of players like [Thiago] Ojeda and Arnau [Solà] making their debuts. There’s fantastic work being done in our youth system to ensure players are ready to make the step up to the first team. Seeing one of our boys up there is a great source of pride for all of us.”
