The Yellow Submarine come up empty at Tarazona in stoppage time (2-1) despite fighting with ten men for over 40 minutes
Luck was not on Villarreal B’s side at Tarazona (2-1) in a match where the Yellow Submarine dominated the first half but were hit by a controversial sending-off for Diatta in the 55th minute, just after the start of the second half.
Despite being a man down, David Albelda’s side defended with grit and determination. Even after conceding the equaliser, it seemed they would at least salvage a point through sheer spirit—but everything fell apart in the final moments.
Villarreal were the better side in the first half. Well organised and with clear ideas, they controlled possession from the start. After several approaches, Diatta scored one of the goals of the day, receiving the ball on the right and firing a powerful shot that bounced into the net, close to the post.
The second half became complicated when Diatta, in an unfortunate play, received a second yellow card, leaving the team with ten men. Tarazona scored in the 65th minute, but Villarreal kept fighting despite the numerical disadvantage.
In stoppage time, Rubén Gómez made two outstanding saves to keep his side in the game. However, Tarazona persisted until the very end, claiming victory in the 100th minute with a header from Carrasco to seal the 2-1 win.
