Villarreal asserted their clear superiority over Ciudad de Lucena, thrashing the Andalusian side in their Copa del Rey debut (0-6) to move through to the next round. The goals for the Yellow Submarine came from Oluwaseyi, who scored a hat-trick, Ilias, Mikautadze and Comesaña.
The visitors’ dominance was evident from the start. Although the hosts showed energy and pace early on, the first warning came in the 12th minute when Ayoze’s thunderous strike hit the crossbar.
The striker soon turned provider, delivering a perfectly timed pass into space for Oluwaseyi in the 15th minute, allowing the Nigerian striker to finish one-on-one and open the scoring for Marcelino’s men. Just two minutes later, in the 17th, Ilias sent in a cross from the right for Solomon, who broke down the flank and delivered a cut-back into the area, enabling Oluwaseyi to score his second.
After the break, Villarreal focused on controlling the game as Ciudad de Lucena remained spirited. In the 59th minute, Ilias sealed the win with a superb solo effort, leaving his marker behind with sheer pace, cutting in from the right side of the box, and unleashing a precise low strike to make it 0-3.
With twenty minutes remaining, Oluwaseyi completed his hat-trick following a brilliant pass from Solomon, rounding the goalkeeper to make it 0-4. In the 80th minute, Mikautadze struck from the edge of the area following a corner, and Comesaña added the sixth in the final five minutes to seal a comprehensive victory for the Yellow Submarine.
