The striker has left his injury behind him and is fit and ready to play for the Mini Submarine
Villarreal B striker Mario González admits he can’t wait to get back on the pitch and play after spending a number of months on the sidelines due to a metatarsal fracture he sustained in June. “I’ve had two similar injuries that have been more or less one after the other, but since the operation, I’ve been feeling good. The truth is that I’ve recovered quicker than expected and I’m ready for whatever the coach needs me for.”
The forward confirmed he’s already focused on the next game against Alcoyano (Saturday 7pm CEST), adding: “I really wanted to play in such a big match like the one against Castellón, but now all I want is for Saturday to come so I can be out on the pitch. What is sure is that it will be a real test and we’re working hard to get three points, although we know that Alcoyano are a hard-working team that will put up a real fight.”
The 22-year-old, now one of the more experienced players in the Mini Submarine squad, also used his time speaking to the press to discuss the quality of the league and his team-mates. “We’ve started with a tough run of fixtures, but I believe that we’ve proved ourselves in terms of how we’ve been playing. You also have to take into account that we’re a very young squad, and most of the players are making their debuts in Segunda B, but we’re going to keep on growing and we’ll try to be towards the top of the table. At the moment, we only have one point from a possible nine, but within the dressing room, the feeling of the squad is very different than what the table show.”
