The Argentine footballer joins the Yellows to strengthen their offensive line
Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with the Argentinean attacker Marianela Szymanowski, who joins the women’s first team to strengthen their attack and help them reach the objectives they set out for this season.
Marianela joins the Yellows on a free transfer, with her previous club being Standard Lipège, who play in the Belgian Women’s Super League.
Experience and versatility for the Yellow attack
Marianela Szymanowski Alonso (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 31/07/1990) stands out especially for her versatility, as she can play in all attacking positions. The Argentinean forward also has a long history in Spanish women’s football, since her family moved to the country in 2000.
Szymanowski, after joining the youth ranks of Atlético de Madrid, made her debut with the first team in 2008 and then went on to play for Rayo Vallecano, Valencia CF, Real Betis and RCD Espanyol, all of them consolidated at the time in the top tier of women’s football in Spain.
The Argentine player decided to broaden her experience by signing for Calcio Pomigliano of the Italian Serie A (2023-24) and, one season later, for Standard Liege in Belgium. Now she joins the team coached by Virginia García to contribute her experience and more firepower in the offensive zone.
Marianela has been an international with Argentina’s national team and, interestingly, her brother Alexander Szymanowski is also a professional footballer, spending much of his career in Spain.
