The Villarreal CF coach underlines the importance of the home clash against the Navarrese side and warns of their defensive strength (Saturday, 6:30pm CEST)
Villarreal CF head coach, Marcelino García Toral, spoke to the media this Friday to preview the match against CA Osasuna, corresponding to Matchday 5 of LALIGA EA Sports, which will be played tomorrow, Saturday, at 6:30pm CEST, at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
During his press conference, the HEAD COACH analysed Osasuna, highlighting their defensive strengths: “Osasuna are a team with a very solid defensive balance. They are a tough opponent with a great coach. It is very difficult to score against them. They have only conceded two goals in four matches. We expect a tough game, but one that we want to win with the effort of the players and the support of our fans.”
The Asturian coach also stressed the need to temporarily forget about the Champions League and focus fully on LaLiga: “We must not mix competitions. On one side there is LALIGA, on the other the Champions League. Now we face three league matches in just a few days. In this important competition we must prove our worth consistently. To qualify for European football, you have to win in LALIGA. We approach the match with the sole ambition of winning.”
Regarding the team selection, Marcelino confirmed that those who are in the best physical and mental condition will play: “We will try to assess each player’s physical level. We will see how the players are feeling and their workload. After tomorrow’s game, we face a match in Seville with little time to recover. There will be changes, and some players will repeat.”
The yellows return home after several consecutive matches away from La Cerámica, where they have won both games played there this season: “It’s been a while since we last played at La Cerámica. We had two great games and won both in a row, being solid and showing great football. Now we return to play a very important match. As I have often said, being reliable at home means being high up the table. It also gives you confidence to play away. Now, we ask for the support of the fans and for the players to show their best level both in ability and attitude.”
