Marcelino has highlighted the team’s effort and the support of the fans in the win against Osasuna
Villarreal CF head coach Marcelino García Toral appeared before the media this Saturday to review the Submarine’s victory over CA Osasuna at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
“We are pleased. It was very important to beat Osasuna today. We’ve been looking for it from the start. We scored four goals, showing effectiveness. We played a very good first half. Then, in the second half, there was a stretch where we could have been better, but then we reacted well,” analysed the coach.
He thanked his players for their efforts: “We are the third highest scoring team in LALIGA. I have to thank the players for their performance and their work. Thanks to them, we have achieved a very important victory, we needed it. It allows us to get closer to Athletic and move a little further away from Betis, while we wait to see what they do tomorrow. Nobody can take the points away from you.”
After securing the three points, Marcelino is already looking ahead to the next challenges, which will be decisive in the race for the Champions League: “Now we have to go to Girona. We’re coming off the back of two consecutive wins at our ground. The important thing is to know that we’re doing well. The team is dynamic, lively and with a lot of enthusiasm. That gives us peace of mind”.
Finally, the Villarreal head coach focused on the importance of the remaining games at the Estadio de la Cerámica: “We have more home games than Betis and Athletic. That’s an asset. We need the pitch to be animated, as it was today. It’s something that reaches the player. If we get the six points we have at La Cerámica, we would be close to our objective. It’s a very big prize. That’s why we all have to pull in the same direction to achieve it.”
