The head coach underlines the importance of going into the match being humble and respectful in order to get closer to a possible win against Leganés
Villarreal head coach, Marcelino Garcia Toral, appeared in front of the media to analyse the upcoming match against CD Leganés, corresponding to Matchday 36 of the 2024/25 LALIGA EA Sports season, which will be played this Wednesday, with kick-off at 7pm CEST at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
Next up: CD Leganés
“It’s going to be a very difficult match, because the teams fighting for survival in the division have everything at stake. And, at the same time, they’re on a good run. They’ll think it’s going to be a final here, but the truth is we’re also playing for our goals. Perhaps the need is greater when you’re towards the bottom, but being at the top also has to give us confidence. Even so, that doesn’t mean this match will be easy. If we have the utmost humility and respect, we’re taking two big steps toward achieving victory.”
A message for the fans
“The team needs the support of the fans. We’re very grateful to see a large crowd in Girona, just like the atmosphere the other day at home against Osasuna. We ask them to help us. The game won’t be easy. We’re going to give our all to achieve victory, and the fans, in difficult moments, will help us feel backed.”
The excitement of playing in Europe
“Es muy meritorio que el Villarreal CF, después de una temporada muy complicada, a falta de tres jornadas está en una buena posición para llegar a jugar la Champions. A nivel clasificatorio, solo se ha conseguido tres veces. Y ahora a falta de tres jornadas, se ha asegurado la Europa League. Creo que es para estar muy orgullosos del equipo y también esperanzados, porque el equipo transmite muy buenas sensaciones”.
“It’s very impressive that Villarreal CF, after a very difficult season, are in a good position to play in the Champions League next season with three games left. In terms of qualification, the club has only achieved this three times. And now, with three games left, the club has secured a place in the Europa League. I think we should be very proud of the team and also hopeful, because the team is transmitting very good feelings.”
