Stellar match by the Yellows, winning with goals by Trigueros, Dos Santos and Soriano
Giants in El Madrigal. Villarreal performed a spectacular match against Atlético de Madrid and achieved an important victory with goals by Trigueros, Jonathan dos Santos and Roberto Soriano. A perfect match that all the Yellows enjoyed watching Villarreal move to the fourth place of the table with 26 points. Well done!
The match opened with a frantic pace. High intensity on both sides since the beginning with both sides fighting for every ball. Jonathan dos Santos had the first clear chance with a volley from the front of the box that Savic saved when the ball was right on goal (m. 16).
Moments later Atletico’s Correa could score with a powerful shot blocked by Sergio Asenjo (m. 17). The Red and Whites were pushing hard and came very close to the goal with a tactical play that ended with Koke sending the ball to the post.
The Submarine got the lead on the 28th minute. Soriano’s defensive pressure allowed Manu to steal a ball and the rest was just magical. Talavera’s genius scored for Villarreal with the cold blood of the most talented strikers. Atletico’s response came immediately. Griezmann left his defender behind and shot but Asenjo saved with a feline block. Saviour.
The 2-0 arrived on the 37th minute. Spectacular play with Bruno passing to Pato, who shoots on goal, Oblak rejects and Jonathan dos Santos sends the ball to the post to then shoot a second time and score. Extraordinary first half.
The second act was slightly different. Villarreal was extremely solid on defense and did not allow any chances. The Submarine’s masterplan was working out very well.
The final moments were total madness. Soriano scored on the final seconds and the Yellows exploded in joy.
