The Brazilian goalkeeper thanked the club for believing in him and says he is a hard-working player
Villarreal CF held the presentation of Luiz Júnior as a new player this Wednesday. Accompanied by the club’s director of football Miguel Ángel Tena, the Brazilian goalkeeper appeared before the media in the press room at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
“I want to thank the club for believing in me. I’m very happy to be in Vila-real and to be able to play in one of the best leagues in the world. I want to do a good job here. I’m very happy to come to this club,’ Luiz Júnior began.
When asked about the club, the Brazilian goalkeeper praised the club and its continental track record in recent seasons: “This is a club that everyone knows. They always play in European competitions and that means they are a great club. I’m looking forward to being able to help with my work.”
As for his qualities as a player, Luiz Júnior underlined his capacity for work: “I’m a very hard-working goalkeeper, who likes to focus on the day to day and work in the best way possible to try to earn a place in the team.”
In the same way, the goalkeeper recognises that arriving in Spanish football is a very important step in his career: “I’m motivated. It’s a very competitive league, where football is played well, with fast ball circulation and a lot of possession. Besides, this is a great team. I saw them live the other day against Atletico de Madrid and my team-mates are very talented. I’m very happy to be able to join this team.”
Finally, the new signing said he feels very motivated to join the Submarine: “I don’t feel any pressure. No pressure at all. I’m just motivated to face a challenge like this. If at any time I felt pressure, it was when I arrived in Portugal at the age of 18 to try to earn a place at Famalicao, to try to play and make a career out of it.”
Tena: “He’s a goalkeeper we’ve been following for a long time”
Villarreal’s director of football, Miguel Angel Tena, accompanied the player at his official presentation as a Villarreal footballer. ‘We were looking for a goalkeeper to compete with Diego Conde. Luiz is a goalkeeper for now and the future. He has performed at a high level in Portugal and we have been following him for some time. Now the possibility of bringing him in has arisen and we are sure that we are signing a great goalkeeper.”
