The Villarreal Women head coach has called on the psychological factor ahead of the final stage of the season
Villarreal Women’s head coach, Jordi Ferriols, appeared before the media this Friday to analyse the match against Getafe Women, corresponding to Matchday 20 of the First Women’s Federation, which will be played this Saturday, at 4pm CET, on Pitch 5 of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
Trusting the process
“We are going into the game in good shape. We have been able to work on what we wanted. The message I’ve given the players is that you have to trust the process. Since I’ve been in charge of the team for the last three weeks, in this last game we didn’t achieve the objective we wanted, but we did see things we’ve worked on. We have to keep on trusting and believing in the way we are going. Tomorrow I expect a difficult game. Getafe also need to win and get the three points. It will be a competitive game and we’ll try to get the win.”
Confidence in the players and the coaching staff
“I’m calm, to be honest. That’s the message I give to the players. The process is long. This defeat against CA Osasuna could have been part of our plans. It’s true that we wanted to get closer to victory, but I have a lot of confidence in the players and the work of the coaching staff and I think we are getting closer to what we want and that victory will come soon.”
The way forward
“It’s true that we’ve had two draws in a row. This match against Osasuna has made us lose that dynamic, so to speak, but the day-to-day work in training is the right one. The players have the concepts that we want to transmit to them much clearer and that will bring us closer to victory.”
Psychological work to face seven finals
“I think the psychological factor is one of the most important factors we are working on with them. Today, for example, we have told them that we are going to face seven finals, which is the objective we have set ourselves. From there, we will see where we are in the table. We are going to play seven finals and we have to try to win them, because finals are played to try to win them’.”
