Miguel Álvarez assures that intensity will be key to face the final stretch of the season in Primera RFEF
Villarreal B coach Miguel Álvarez appeared at the press conference ahead of the match against UCAM Murcia at La Condomina Sunday, 2pm (CET), corresponding to matchday 27 of the Primera RFEF. These are the highlights of the Guarromán-born coach’s statements:
Player signings and Costa Brava
“We’re a bit disappointed because the team deserved all 3 points. The boys played a good game on a pitch that is not great for the reserves, but we have Alberto Del Moral and Jackson back. If all goes well, we’ll also have Ahn back for the weekend and that makes us happy.”
Final stretch of the season
“We have to compete hard in these games. The scenario of the second half of the season has changed completely and the potential of the teams is different. If we do the same as we did in the first half of the season, we are further away from winning. In such close games, if as a team you don’t move forward, it’s more difficult, but they have understood that and we have to keep it up. Now we’re going to a difficult ground. We’ll see how the team responds.”
Match against UCAM Murcia
“I expect a very intense game because they are a team that, as we saw here at home, have very good players and a great intensity in their play. The results have not been going their way lately. We have to be very good in the duels because they have a lot of individual quality.”
Intensity and attitude
“I talk to the lads about not looking like a reserve team. On set pieces we have to be very strong and be very intense in our work, but if I think there is something in the B team, there are people who put in a lot of hours. It’s all well and good to be very talented and have good technique, but you can’t lack attitude because the opponents have improved and they all have great demands.”
