Villarreal B win in Buñol (1-3) and will play in the promotion play-offs for the second year in a row
Time to fight for going up. Villarreal B mathematically confirmed their participation in the playoffs for promotions to Liga 123 after beating Atlético Levante 1-3 in Buñol thanks to a Simón Moreno goal and two own goals from the home side.
With the win, the Yellows will definitely be playing in the playoffs for the second year in a row with two games left of the normal season. They have once more shown the success and immense potential of the Yellows Academy.
Villarreal B took the reins of the match from the start. They were in control of the ball, but did not have a huge amount of chances. Yet when they came, they made the most of them. With their first real opportunity, the Yellows went in front after a clear foul in the box on Enric Franquesa in the box. Moreno stepped up, and fired home with cold blood.
The goal to make it 0-2 came three minutes before the break, with Serrano sending an Edu Adell cross into his own net, increasing the Mini Submarine’s lead.
The second half continued in the same style. With the Mini Submarine defending well, the home side tried to take control of the game to the best of their ability, but the Yellows reserves struck once more. In the 50th minute, a quick counter ended with another own goal, this time from Rulo.
After that goal, Miguel Álvarez’s side slowed the tempo down and tried to kill the game off, while the home side tried to react, and scored in the 63rd minute with a goal from Shaq, which meant the game ended 1-3.
