Marcelino praised the team’s great first half and the effort put in by his players
Marcelino García Toral appeared before the media to analyse the 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano at the Estadio de la Cerámica. “I’m very proud of the team. We fought back. We had a mistake in Rayo’s goal and then we suffered the sending off of Kambwala, who will learn from the action. I was thrilled with our first half. The truth is that it was spectacular. Despite the setbacks, we overcame everything.”
The coach also praised the great effort of his players, who had to play for an hour with a numerical disadvantage: “They gave their all. I’m very proud of them. They deserve this point for the effort they put in. It’s a shame that we didn’t manage to make it three’.”
On the other hand, Marcelino was satisfied with the image shown at La Cerámica, with which the good line shown during the first part of the season has been resumed: “It’s the approach to follow. It’s the line we had shown until these last few games. Especially against Betis. Now it’s time to recover physically and see if we can finish the year winning. This point strengthens us as much as a win.”
Finally, he congratulated Juan Foyth on his return to the pitch: “He’s one of the best defenders in the team. He’s been out for a long time. We hope he can put his injuries behind him and enjoy football. He’s a player who has a lot to offer us when he’s healthy. It’s great news to see him on the pitch.”
