Ayoze Pérez has been officially unveiled as a new player for the Yellow Submarine
Villarreal CF have presented Ayoze Pérez as a new ‘Groguet’ player. The new signing appeared in the press room at the Estadio de la Cerámica this Friday, accompanied by director of football Miguel Ángel Tena.
The attacker from Tenerife has expressed his gratitude to the Yellows after their decision to sign him: “I’m very happy and excited to be part of the Villarreal CF family. I am approaching this great opportunity with all the enthusiasm in the world.”
Also, aware of the challenge he is facing, he says he is more than ready: “I am aware of the demands of a club like Villarreal, of the project and of where we want to go. We have a great head coach and a great group to achieve important things. Right now I’m at a very important moment in my career. In fact, I would say that I am at my best moment. I want to do my bit, as an attacker with goals and assists, to help the team get back into Europe.”
As for his personal goals, Ayoze Pérez emphasised his desire to keep improving: “I’ve always been demanding of myself on an individual level. So I always try to improve on the previous season’s records, such as goals and assists for my position. It’s something I constantly think about in order to improve and to contribute and to be able to add to the team. At the same time, on a collective level, I believe that the demand and ambition must be maximum. Hopefully it will be a year in which we can celebrate something important at the end.”
A demand to which we have to add the added bonus of the versatile nature of the striker from Tenerife: “I think it helps me to have the knowledge of being able to play in different positions. I’m a self-sacrificing player with the ability to score goals and make a difference in the opposing area.”
Ayoze has also pointed out as a positive point for his arrival the confidence that Marcelino García Toral has given him: “It has always been very characteristic of Marcelino that he gets the best out of each player. He has given me a lot of confidence, so I’m delighted to be with him and we will work to see the best version of me.”

Villarreal CF director of football, Miguel Ángel Tena, has welcomed Ayoze Pérez and has given the keys to his arrival at the Yellow Submarine: “With the recent departures there have been, we needed to reinforce this position. Furthermore, we had been looking at Ayoze for some time because he is a player with great potential and who adapts perfectly to Villarreal CF’s model of play. Furthermore, Ayoze can play as a centre forward, second striker and even play on one of the wings.”
