Villarreal and Castellón Airport commemorate the fourth anniversary of the first flight from the airport
Villarreal CF and Castellón Airport this Tuesday have celebrated the fourth anniversary of the opening of commercial flights at the airport in a commemorative ceremony. The Yellows are one of the main clientes of the airport, having inaugurated the first flight, to San Sebastián in January 2015.
The ceremony, hosted by Aerocas director general Joan Serafí Bernat; airport manager Ivana Guinot; and Villarreal CF CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles, saw the presence of the board and the Yellows first team, who were involved in two commemorative photos to mark the four-year link between both parties, with a banner saying ‘4 anys volant junts’ (4 years flying together), before heading to St. Petersburg, where Villarreal will face FC Zenit (Thursday, 6:55pm CET).
In this ceremony, the Villarreal CF CEO underlined the club’s commitment to Castellón Airport: “We were the first to fly from Castellón. We’ve been committed to them since day one. It’s a privilege to have an airport in our province. What is sure is that we see the link as a real positive thing. We are really happy and we want to continue working together in the future.”
The Aerocas director general underlined that the Yellows “have been one of the main allies and ambassadors, contributing to the take-off and consolidation of the airport,” while the airport manager hailed the Yellows in how they have helped the airport become international: “Villarreal CF has acted in a way that the majority of first-division clubs in Spain, as well as international clubs, regularly use the airport.”
Furthermore, Villarreal CF has strengthened its presence in the airport, with pictures of the club being put in different parts of the passengers’ terminal.
