Colombian striker Roger Martínez analyses his debut for Villarreal CF
Villarreal’s new Colombian striker, Roger Martínez, made his debut for the Yellow Submarine yesterday. The Yellow number 24 was disappointed that the Submarine did not qualify for the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey, but highlighted the team’s great performance against CD Leganés (2-1). “The team’s attitude, effort and desire was positive and we fought until the end”.
Roger Martínez came on in the 71st minute and had a good chance to score with his head in the final minutes, but his effort went just wide of the far post. “I enjoyed every minute of my first match for Villarreal. It’s a dream to play here and now I just have to work hard to adapt to the team’s dynamic more and more. I’m very happy to have taken the first step by making my debut and happy to have class teammates and people around me”.
With regard to the upcoming league clash against Real Madrid, Roger believes it will be tough but a good experience: “It will be a difficult match but also a great experience for me. We have to work hard so we can come away with a positive result”.
