The Villarreal Femenino coach expects a tough match against Real Oviedo (Saturday, 16:30)
Villarreal Femenino head coach Jordi Ferriols spoke to V Play to analyse the build-up to the groguetes’ next league match against Real Oviedo, corresponding to matchday 15 of Primera Federación Femenina, which will be played this Saturday at 16:30 at El Requexón.
Jordi Ferriols began by positively assessing the recent home win against Betis: “It was one of the team’s objectives to start the second half of the season strong at home, and we achieved that against Betis. We are very happy and that is the line to follow.”
Looking ahead to the match against Oviedo, the coach from Vila-real warned of the difficulty of the opponent: “Oviedo have strengthened well and it will be a complicated match. At home they are very strong. They have scored many goals from set pieces and are a very solid team that works hard without the ball. In addition, with the ball they have players with a lot of talent and quality. We have to be very focused and match their intensity to be strong. For our part, with the ball we must respect our structure. And above all, we have to be clinical in both boxes.”
He also added: “Oviedo are a team with a lot of footballing intelligence, that commit many players in transitions and in the box. We have to be prepared to stop those transitions and to cope with moments when they put us under pressure.”
Finally, Ferriols underlined the importance of picking up points away from home: “Away from home we know the league is very difficult and that it is important to score points. There are very few matchdays left and everything is very tight, so we have to keep that momentum and be very consistent. That is what will allow us to try to stay in the top positions of the table.”
