The Villarreal B captain predicts a great season for the Yellows Reserves in the Second Division B
The Yellows Reserves right back, Felipe Alfonso, expects the team to equal last season’s excellent performance, in which they qualified as for the promotion play-offs, as a minimum. “The end of the season was painful, but we have to turn the page and play with more desire and hope than ever. We’re not setting a long term objective. We want to be at the top, but without any pressure”, he commented.
The captain of the Mini Submarine was optimistic, despite the defeat picked up in their league opener against Cornellà (1-0): “To start was a defeat isn’t nice, but the team competed really well. We came away feeling good and we only lost by a goal in the final minutes”.
The right sided player has forgotten about the serious injury he suffered at the start of last season: “I’ve already forgotten about the injury. It’s been over a year since the torn ligament and now I’m hungrier than ever. Injuries happen all the time in football. These things just make you stronger”.
With respect to Sunday’s rival at the Mini Estadi (5:30pm CET, Villarreal CF Live and Televisión de Castellón Mediterráneo), Felipe says won’t be easy to beat the recently promoted side: “El Gavà are motivated to do well in this league. We will try work hard this week to get our first win. The manager has stressed that we must be strong at home. We have to get many points from the Mini Estadi throught this season”.
