The Villarreal CF Manager analyzes the Europa League draw and the upcoming match vs Sevilla
At midday today Villarreal CF Manager, Fran Escribá, analyzed today’s UEFA Europa League draw for the Group stage, in which the Submarine were put into Group L with FC Steaua de Bucarest, FC Zürich and Osmanlispor FK. “We want to go through as top of our group. We’re the favourites in our group, but we have to face each game as it comes. We have to be strong here at home and try to win away”, he commented.
For Escribá, the strength of the home side will be the key to going far in the European competition: “What is clear is that we have three matches at home that we must win and do the best we can away from home. The matches away from home with a European atmosphere will be difficult”.
According to the Submarine Manager, the level of this UEFA Europa League competition is very high: “The level is really high in this year’s Europa League. We are one of the teams that has to think we can win it. This is a competition that you like more and more, it’s very exciting and if you win it you get through to the Champions League next year”.
With regard to Villarreal’s next league fixture, Fran Escribá warned that Sevilla are a very tough opponent: “I expect to come up against the Sevilla that we’ve seen in the Super Cup, very brave, open and changing from a physical to a talent based style of play. Their manager, Sampaoli opts to use his players talents with a very attacking style. Sevilla are a team that play to get shots off and they have the players to do so. We have to be a team that stays together and organized so they can’t find spaces”.
The Manager asserted that they will need maximum support from the fans to beat Sevilla: “Sevilla are a direct rival for us and they’ve strengthened their team well. It is a very important match and one of maximum difficulty”.
To finish, Escribá stressed that the injuries in the Submarine should not murmur the Yellows’ hope: “We’ve got the same problems as it has been difficult for us to recover players before the league break. But we can count on Cheryshev and Sansone again now”.
