The Villarreal Manager analyses the Submarine’s defeat against Getafe
The Villarreal CF Manager, Fran Escribá, analysed the match against Getafe that finished with a win for the home side at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez stadium. The Manager was disappointed with the Yellows’ lack of focus and intensity: “They took advantage of three of their set plays and another defensive error where we gave them the goal. We weren’t sharp in attack either, above all at the end of the first half and the start of the second. That’s when it all got away from us”.
For Escribá, the team’s performance decreased as the game went on: “We lowered the intensity and I don’t know why. In the break, we talked about picking it up again but it didn’t happen. It’s a tough result to take, but the four goals were the fault of our lack of intensity. We’re all disappointed, but we need to think about Thursday now”.
The Yellow boss wants to look to the future with optimism. “We’re not a disaster because of this match. We’ve been improving in the last few matches and I don’t think it should be seen that way. Yes, I am the first to be frustrated by this defeat. We lacked a lot of tension. We need to work on this, especially from set plays”.
