The Yellows Manager emphasized the Yellows’ good play and belief vs Las Palmas
At the post-match press conference Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, spoke about his side’s last minute win against Las Palmas (2-1) and highlighted the team’s team work. “We’ve got a good team and a good squad, but what’s more, a team that works really hard. The players are solid. We’ve shown that if we don’t give 100% we’re not as good, but today we did just that and after the break we played really well. We gave everything and that’s why we won”, he commented.
With regard to Villarreal’s defensive play in the match, Escribá explained the reason behind it. “They were better than us at the start, they attacked easier and won the ball back quickly. There was no physical excuse for the changes, but it’s true that we had less time to prepare our tactical game. In the first half there was a spell when they were better than us. I think we won because we gave a push, we were much better in the second half”, he said.
With respect to the privileged position Villarreal find themselves in in the table and their undefeated streak, the Manager was cautious: “I’m very pragmatic when it comes to this. I’m happy for the fans, but it’s anecdotal. I’m happy. Atlético fell today, which just shows how difficult it is to have gone undefeated until now”.
