The Villarreal Manager praised his side’s fantastic performance against Real Betis
Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, was proud of his team’s work rate against Real Betis, which helped them to pick up a vital win for the Submarine’s aspirations to play European football next season. “It’s a very important victory. This team has shown once again that they always pick themselves up after tough defeats and always compete well. I’m convinced that this team can put three wins together again”, he commented.
For the Yellows boss his side deserved to sentence the match, but they were made to suffer at the end: “The fact that we didn’t finish our counterattacks made us suffer until the end. It was a much harder game than everyone thinks. On a physical level we had two or three players that were done. This meant we weren’t able to pressure the ball and they played many balls over the top”.
Lastly, Fran Escribá sent a message to the fans ahead of this Friday’s crucial match against Athletic Club at the Estadio de la Cerámica (8:45pm CET): “It’s one of the most important games of the season because they’re a direct rival, but I wouldn’t say it’s a final. Athletic are a great team and they’re going to fight until the end. They’re a very physical side and we will try to dominate them. It will be a tough match. We will need the fans to pile the pressure on them from the first minute”.
