Unai Emery analyses the Yellows’ defeat in his post-match press conference
Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in a press conference after the game against Osasuna. Here is what he had to say:
A tough defeat
“All of the defeats are tough. We came into the game base don the last games, where praise can create certain confusion, and today there was some. It has also been down to the. We knew we had to have patience to find space and grow into the game so it went in our favour. We weren’t convincing in defence, especially in the second balls.”
Difficulty against defensive teams
“It’s how games are. Betis lined up similarly, but we were more aggressive. Kike was creating a lot against us in the first half. It’s how they play and they do it very well. Football can be difficult, and we saw that today.”
Attitude
“It’s not an attitude problem. Everyone wants to play well. We all make errors. The ideas we have worked against Betis, but not today. We weren’t aggressive enough in defence and we made mistakes.”
Things to improve
“We have 11 points in LaLiga. We have a game in hand which could help us move closer to the teams above us. We don’t want to focus on the praise when we get it, but we don’t want to focus too much on frustration either, because that doesn’t help anyone. On Wednesday we have an important game.”
