Villarreal B lose to Atlético de Madrid B in a game in which they lacked luck in front of goal
Miguel Álvarez predicted that it would be an open game with great intensity, and so it proved to be. Villarreal B, lacking fortune in front of goal and despite having more control of the ball, were unable to overcome Atlético de Madrid B’s early goal. Omar Janneh’s strike left Miguel Álvarez’s side without a point on Matchday 25 of the 2024/25 Primera Federación season.
In the early stages of the game it looked like it was going to be a wide open encounter, with both teams getting into the opposition box and creating dangerous chances. An example of this Victor Valverde’s shot from Budesca’s cross, which ended up going over the bar. Despite these chances, Atlético de Madrid B struck the first blow. Fernando Torres’ side took the lead in the 18th minute thanks to Omar Janneh, who took advantage of a defensive blunder by the Yellows (1-0, min. 21).
A couple of moves later, the home side came close to making it 2-0 when Diego Bri’s shot went just wide of Rubén Gómez’s post. Just before the break, Miguel Álvarez’s men had another chance. However, Jean Ives Valou’s header failed to find the target.
At the start of the second half, Miguel Álvarez made some changes, trying to give a breath of fresh air to the Mini Submarine. The introduction of Cristo, Joseda and Tamarit into the field of play gave the Vila-real side more dynamism and more ball possession. The problem was that, despite trying, the Mini Submarine had no luck in front of goal. Etta Eyong, Tiago and Viveros had the clearest chances, but none went in and the game ended 1-0 in favour of the home side.
