

Villarreal lose to Sporting who take the points with goals from Jony and Sergio Álvarez
Villarreal lost to Sporting de Gijón at the El Molinón stadium and put an end to what has been an unforgettable season for the Yellows, in which they finished fourth in LaLiga and got to the Semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League.
The Submarine went to for the victory from the start and had some clear chances on goal. The best of which fell to Leo Baptistao early on, but the Brazilian’s shot hit the left post of Cuéllar’s goal.
The first for Sporting came in the 8th minute. Jony made it 1-0 with a spectacular volley from a cross that flew over Barbosa and went in just inside of the post.
The decisive 2-0 came in the second half. Sergio Álvarez hit a great strike from the top of the box and the ball soared into the back of the net, coming off the underside of the crossbar. Villarreal kept going until the end, but couldn’t get on the score sheet.
