The defender returns to Villarreal Women
Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with the defender Cristina Cubedo, who will represent the club until 2024. The footballer arrives as a free agent after spending last season with UDG Tenerife.
Leadership and courage in defence
Cristina Cubedo Pitarch (21/10/1999) returns to the club that saw her grow as a footballer for eight seasons. She joined the Yellows Academy aged ten, moving through the ranks until reaching the first team.
After five seasons away, Cubedo returns to Villarreal Women to bring leadership to the Yellows’ defence. She is capable of playing with either foot, and brings the ball out well from the back, as well as being a danger from attacking set pieces. She has also represented Spain at youth level.
The defender is Villarreal Women’s fifth summer signing. The squad currently looks like the following:
- Goalkeepers: Elena de Toro and Carmen Carbonell.
- Defenders: Lara Mata, Irene Miguélez, Yenifer Giménez, Nerea Pérez, Pancha Lara, Lucía Gómez and Cristina Cubedo.
- Midfielders: María Cienfuegos, Paola Soldevila, Bea Prades, Ainoa Campo, Estefa Lima and María Llompart.
- Forwards: Tere Morató, Sheila Guijarro, Vera Rico, Belén Martínez, Fatou Kanteh and Rocío García.
