The Asturian midfielder signs on until 2026
Villarreal CF and María Cienfuegos have reached an agreement for the Asturian midfielder to continue wearing the yellow shirt next season, with her contract now running until 30 June 2026.
María Cienfuegos Baragaño, known as Cienfu (8 April 2001, Langreo, Asturias), is currently in her second spell at Villarreal CF. The midfielder first joined the club in the 2020/21 season and was part of the team that achieved the historic promotion to the top flight. Over three seasons, she became a key figure in the Yellows’ setup, making a total of 76 appearances across the league and the Copa de la Reina.
In this second spell, Cienfu has surpassed the milestone of 100 appearances for Villarreal Women, having played a further 24 league matches and two more in the Copa de la Reina. The young midfielder is known for her excellent vision, control in midfield and strong winning mentality on the pitch.
