The Nigerian forward is among the ten candidates up for the award for the world’s best U21 player in 2019

The Yellows attacker Samuel Chukwueze is one of ten candidates for the Kopa Trophy which recognises the best U21 player in the world in 2019. At 20 years of age, the homegrown yellow is the first Villarreal CF player to be put up for this prestigious award, organised by France Football magazine. 

Last season, in his first year at the top flight, the Nigerian forward scored ten times, and got four assists in 47 tie, whilst so far in this season, he has scored two goals and has assisted twice in only eight games. 

The other players put forward for the prize are as follows: Joao Felix (Atlético Madrid), Vinicius (Real Madrid), Lunin (Valladolid), Kang-In Lee (Valencia), De Ligt (Juventus), Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), Kai Havertz (Bayern Leverkusen), Matteo Guendouzi (Arsenal) and Moise Kean (Everton).
