The Villarreal player will represent the Reds in the knockout tie in Austria
The Yelllows’ left midfielder, Samu Castillejo, is the second Spaniard of the day to be called up to the national team after Sergio Asenjo (called up for the Senior squad), and will play for the U21s in the play-offs for the Poland 2017 European Championships. Albert Celades’ team finished second in their group behind Sweden U21 and will now go in search of their ticket to the European Championships via the play-offs. On 11th November they will play the first leg at the NV Arena in Austria (St. Pölten, 6:30pm CET), while the second leg will be played at the Carlos Belmonte stadium on 15th Novemeber (Albacete, 6pm CET).
If he plays a part in the match, it will be Samu’s fifth cap for Spain. He made his debut under Celades himself in March 2015 against Norway U21 in a 2-0 win. His good start to the season has already been rewarded on a few occasions as he was also called up for matches against San Marino and Estonia, although he did not play any minutes in these matches.
