The Villarreal coach regrets the defeat suffered against Girona FC
Villarreal boss Javi Calleja was annoyed by the result of the match against Girona FC, saying: “We haven’t been capable of getting a win so far this season and that is because we’re falling short in both boxes. We are able to create chances, but we can’t close out matches.”
Calleja was also disappointed with the start of the second half, adding: “We dominated the first half, and we had enough chances to put ourselves in the lead. Disallowing the goal knocked us for six a bit and after that we struggled to get on the scoreboard for nearly all of the second half. After that disallowed goal, everything became a lot more difficult for us.”
The Madrid-born manager also made the most of his press conference to talk about the draw for the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. He said: “We’ve been drawn in a group which won’t be easy at all as they are teams who are used to playing in Europe. We will try to get victories and get as far as we can in the competition.”
