Javi Calleja regrets that Villarreal did not find their best form against RC Deportivo
Villarreal CF Manager, Javi Calleja, was “disappointed” in the post match press conference after the Submarine’s match against RC Deportivo de la Coruña: “The team didn’t play to the level they’ve been playing at all season. We weren’t as good as we needed to be today. It was a very important match that we wanted to win because a victory would have taken us into the top five. We come away disappointed”.
For his part, the Yellows boss felt his side lacked quick ball circulation: “We lacked control of the tempo of the game. We had the ball, but we couldn’t find depth nor play it around as fluidly as we wanted to in the middle of the park. What’s more, their goal came from a situation that we could have avoided. In general, we didn’t play well”.
