The Yellows head coach underlined that the home side’s cutting edge was the difference in a tight match at the Wanda Metropolitano
Villarreal manager Javi Calleja appeared in front of the media to analyse the Yellows’ defeat at the Wanda Metropolitano (3-1). The Yellows manager was frustrated with the result against Atlético Madrid: “We’re leaving a tough stadium with a defeat. The match was decided by small details. They had more cutting edge and were more alive in key moments of the game. Our first half was good, we had control of the game. They equalised before half-time and in the second half, we could have made it 1-2 and straight after they made it 2-1. We tried to equaliser, but it wasn’t possible.”
Calleja backs the team to look forward and continue competing to be towards the top of the table. “We don’t like losing. We came to win and we didn’t manage it. We need to look forward and regroup to continue in the fight to be towards the top. There are a lot of teams and it’s very tight. We’re visiting Athletic next week. We’ll continue working hard to get a win.”
