The experienced centre-back is optimistic ahead of the match with Spartak (Thursday, 9pm CEST)
Daniele Bonera has already moved on. The Italian defender wants to forget the defeat against Real Valladolid and focus on getting a victory this Thursday against Spartak in Moscow (9pm CEST). “The good thing about playing twice a week is that when you lose, you don’t have a lot of time to think about it. We are already focused on Thursday’s match. Every Europa League match is difficult, regardless of whether you play it at home or away. The match against Rangers was a game where we played well, but we only got a point, so we have to go to Moscow and try and win. We know it will be a difficult stadium to play in and that we’re facing a good team,” he commented.
The Yellows No.23 believes that playing in LaLiga and in the Europa League is completely different: “When you play a European match, you’re playing for something different. There everyone wants to show that they want to be at this stage of the competition, and that they deserve to reach the next round. They’re not doing too well in the league at the moment, but we know that they’re a good team.”
For Bonera, the team deserved a lot more against Valladolid last Sunday: “I’ve spent a lot of my life playing football and truthfully, I’ve never been part of a team that’s had so many chances in four matches and take away basically a point. In this sense it is really difficult to explain what’s happening, but that’s football. The team is trying to do the best it can, and in fact, in the last match, I don’t know how many chances we had, but if you don’t take them, it’s difficult to win.
