Villarreal B get a point against Ceuta in their visit to the Alfonso Murube
A good Villarreal B got a point from their visit to Ceuta at the Alfonso Murube (1-1) in a match where the Yellows, with better chances than their opponent, deserved better luck. With this result, Miguel Álvarez’s side get another point on the board and are now five games unbeaten.
It was an end-to-end first half, but Villarreal B had better opportunities, mainly in the boots of Etta Eyong, who was the key man for the Yellows in the opening 45 minutes.
The first real chance for the Submarine was controversial, as Etta Eyong was brought down in the box after a Requena pass in the 15th minute. The referee, however, decided it was not a penalty.
The Cameroonian striker had three more clear chances. In the 25th minute, after a quick counter attack, the ball found its way to Etta Eyong, but his shot went over the bar.
In the 34th minute, he had another chance, although Vallejo, the home goalkeeper, blocked both chances. Three minutes before the break, he had another effort from the penalty spot that went off target.
The second half, although it had fewer chances, had the goals. Villarreal B found the back of the net with more than a quarter of an hour gone, in the 62nd minute. The move started from Quintero’s boots, with the winger opening the ball up to Etta Eyong. The Cameroonian flicked it back to Rodri and the captain, with a placed shot, put the Yellows ahead.
Ceuta, however, were able to capitalise on one of the few chances they had. In the 73rd minute, they won a penalty, with Aquino scoring from the spot. The match ended all square, despite Miguel Álvarez’s side deserving more. Villarreal B will host Marbella at the Mini Estadi next weekend (Sunday 8th, 12pm CET), on Matchday 16 of the 2024/25 Primera RFEF season.
