The Cameroonian midfielder underlines that he will bring his best to help Villarreal have a great season
Villarreal’s Cameroonian midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa underlined his excitement to be presented as a new Yellows player. Accompanied by president Fernando Roig, Anguissa underlined that he is keen to represent the Yellows. “I am very happy to be with Villarreal, because it’s a big club. I’m here to give my all to help Villarreal return to where it should be in LaLiga. I know my signing was complicated, and I’m very thankful to the club.”
He is clear that he can help the team: “I’m aware of what I can bring to the side to help them be even better. I have a number of team-mates who will help me a lot. I think I can help balance the team.”
Anguissa recognised that playing in Spain will be different than from France and England: “I try to get better each day. Football is different in each country. Spanish football attracts me a lot. I want to improve and adapt as quick as possible.”
Karl Toko Ekambi will be key in him adapting. They’re Cameroon team-mates, and now they are also share a dressing room at club level. “Toko speaks very good Spanish and inspires me to try and learn it. At the moment I’m understanding a bit more and I think I will adapt well. After speaking a lot to Toko, he said a lot of good things about the club. He told me the truth. I’m at a club that I like a lot. I’m confident that I can have a good season and I am only thinking about now.”
Anguissa has already represented Villarreal on the pitch, in the last friendly against Schalke 04, where he played in the middle of the pitch alongside Santi Cazorla. “It’s a pleasure to play alongside a player as talented as Cazorla. You can learn a lot from him and that’s important for me. I’ve been able to confirm that Villarreal has a lot of quality all over the pitch,” he finalised.
Roig: “Anguissa is going to help us a lot”
Villarreal president Roig wanted to welcome the new Yellows player and recognised that he has a lot of hope for him: “He’s keen to help us have a good season. I’m welcoming him and hope it’s a good year for him and for Villarreal. I’m sure he will help us a lot.”
