Villarreal starts the 14-15 season with a great match against Levante
Villarreal’s debut in La Liga this season was a victory against Levante by 0-2, with goals scored by Uche and Cheryshev. The Yellows played a great game and secured the first three points of the season. Very skilled technically and efficient on the tactical game, Marcelino’s men managed to win and now wait for FC Barcelona in what will be the first home game of Villarreal next week.
Villarreal showed a very good level from the very beginning. Around the first minute the Yellows enjoyed two clear scoring chances through Uche and Cheryshev. Around the 5th minute, Giovani was free on the right wing, he dribbled his defender and tried scoring with a strong shot on goal that went over the crossbar. The Submarine was playing comfortably and Levante tried hard to control them with an effective defense and a fast counter attack. Before the 15th minute, Villarreal enjoyed yet another chance with Cheryshev serving the ball to Giovani, who unluckily missed the shot right on goal.
After the intense start, Levante started to control the midfield and the Yellows had to work extra hard on defense. Xumetra and Casadesús were playing well on the sides. But then again, during the final minutes of the first half, the visitors dominated the match again.
The second half started very well for the Submarine. It was the 56th minute and a beautiful play ended up in the 0-1, with a combination between Manu Trigueros, Cheryshev and Cani, who served the ball to Uche who scored the first goal on a ‘one on one’ with Jesús.
The goal forced Levante’s game, while Villarreal awaited and tried to kill the match when they had the chance. The Yellows felt good and finally scored the second goal with five minutes to go, with Espinosa serving the ball to Moi on the right wing, who assisted Cheryshev right on the goal line.
